Everyone needs sun protection, and adequate sun protection. The good news is that today everyone can find the best sunscreen for their skin type, age and special needs - activity, fragrance, texture. Applying sunscreens is essential to protect our skin and to stay healthy. Research from the recent decades has also shown that ultraviolet radiation plays a significant role in the development of diseases caused by the sun, including skin cancer. And the MiBo team wants to help in prevention.
1. Avoid direct sunlight between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.!
During that time UVA and UVB rays travel much shorter in the Earth's atmosphere, making them much more intense. Without sun protection, harmful rays can penetrate deep into the hypodermis layer of the skin, where they can cause cell damage. UV radiation can be strong even on cloudy days, as the clouds reflect the rays towards the Earth, so reliable protection must be provided even then. It is important to distribute the liquid in appropriate amounts and evenly over the skin and to repeat their use every two hours.
2. Appropriate sunscreen can prevent premature skin aging!
UVA rays are present throughout the year and throughout the day, penetrating deep into the lower layers of the skin, playing a significant role in premature skin aging and the formation of wrinkles. They play a role in indirect DNA and eye and retinal damage. UVB radiation provides the body with vitamin D, but is also responsible for sunburn and direct DNA damage. Experts say there is a strong correlation between skin cancer and the extent of DNA damage, with more than 90 percent of skin malignancies attributable to the harmful effects of sunlight. Most people think that facial light protection only applies to the summer months. However, light protection is needed every month. Sunscreen products also contain chemical and physical light filters that protect the skin from harmful rays. Chemical light filters absorb UV radiation and then emit this energy in the form of heat. Physical light filters, on the other hand, form a protective layer on the surface of the skin to strengthen its natural line of defense. These inorganic mineral pigments reflect or scatter UV radiation, preventing it from penetrating the skin.
3. Babies and young children must be protected from direct sunlight!
Children’s skin differs from that of adults in several ways. Children's skin's defenses are less developed, making them more sensitive to sunlight, so in their case, light protection should be given even more emphasis. In children’s skin, the cells responsible for pigmentation are less active, resulting in increased UV sensitivity. Light-skinned, light-haired, freckled children are more prone to sunburn. The skin of the little ones is much thinner, which is why it is so important to choose a developed, more protective sunscreen. Hypoallergenic, paraben-, fragrance-free, water- and sweat-resistant, and fotostabil products should be preferred.
4. Beware of high-risk weather conditions!
In the case of cloudy skies, wind, altitude, reflected surfaces (eg water, sand, snow) the risk of sunburn is even higher. Even then, pay close attention to sun protection
5. Wear a cloth made of densely woven fabric!
Garments made of densely woven fabric can provide adequate protection against harmful sun rays. The long-sleeved shirt and T-shirt protect the skin of the arms, neck and chest from strong sunlight. But a wide-brimmed hat is also an essential accessory when we are outdoors.
6. Use UV-filtered sunglasses to properly protect your eyes!
UVA rays pass through the layers of clouds and smog virtually unhindered, but also through the windowpane. In addition to being carcinogenic, they are responsible for premature skin aging, sun allergies, and unfortunately can even cause eye and retinal damage.
7. Drink plenty of water to keep your body properly hydrated!
In summer, in the heat, the loss of fluid from our body is increased, as we sweat better in hot conditions. It is very important to take care of the replacement of lost fluid: drink as much water as possible, a minimum of one and a half liters a day, but the ideal would be 2-3 liters.
If we follow these, we are guaranteed to enjoy the sun and a good time with impunity.
