The big question - 1st part
As the clash between Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona, the debate among the people of Lake Balaton about which side is the best is quite the same, there is no right answer. Perhaps even our ancestors were debating about the same question while they rode on horseback and saw the shores of the "Hungarian Sea" for the first time.
A century-long battle that moves generations to finally reveal: is the north or south coast better? Without bias, we thought about the issue impartially. We are not from one side of Lake Balaton and although we have been there quite a few times, this did not mean anything. Is it possible to decide at all? As serious as the question is, we try to answer it light-minded.
As mentioned in our previous article, as a toddler the south coast was the winner. It is probably an easy-peasy choice as a parent as well, as the slowly deepening water favors “child observation”. Although not a favorite spot for divers, it is very popular with water sports enthusiasts. And let’s not forget the channel, which amazed me as a kid, even though I never saw it work. Has anyone seen it at all, ever? And it certainly works, as the hungarian soft drink brand still exists!
The “southern parties” are deservedly famous. Let's say we looked at the evening parties differently with the head of a child, at that time the “sergő”, the target shooting and the cotton candy were the most attracted, but as adults we can already compare the chain of units on the promenade to Canaan, where you can crack down until morning. Then comes the dawn, the time of sobriety, or just the refill, but what is almost certainly a part of the dawn at Lake Balaton: sunrise on the pier with an old or just a new love. Of course, the danger is always there: one stays too long, and then has to walk several kilometres in the heat of nearly 30 degrees on a hot day. It may also be that the reality that comes to life in the eyes that have been cleared of sobriety is not as bright as it was hours earlier under the disco ball, and yet the latest love of our lives is not the love of our lives…. but what happens at Lake Balaton stays there as well.
